Forest ecosystem in Pangandaran consists of beach forest, low land forest, and plantation forest. Beach forest is dominated by bindweed (Ipomoea pes-caprae), spiky spinifex grass (Spinifex littoreus), and formation of Barringtonia; such as west indian almond (Terminalia catappa) and fish poison tree (Barringtonia asiatica). Low land forest is mostly secondary forest, which cover most of Nature Reserve. It is dominated by Marong (Cratoxylum formosum), ki segel (Dillenia excelsa), and laban (Vitex pinnata) trees. Plantation forest is located at Nature Recreation Park and hills of Pangandaran; which are planted by teak (Tectona grandis), mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), and acacia (Acacia auriculiformis).
